Fall Refresher - Lightning Round

  • 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Registration is closed

Kick off the 2025-26 School Year with ideas and information from MASL Members! Our two features are:

  • The Great Maine Book Tournament -- Kerrie Lattari, Library Media Specialist at York Middle School.

The Great Maine Book Tournament was started by Kerrie Lattari in 2018 as a way to engage her students with the Maine Student Book Award in a new and exciting way. With the help of other school librarians and teachers around the state, students in grades 4-8 form teams and compete in a series of Kahoots over three rounds, answering questions based off of a 15 book reading list. You can visit the website https://gmbt.my.canva.site to learn more!

  • Power in Numbers: Leveraging Data to Showcase Library Impact -- Cidney Mayes, Librarian (Grades 5&6) at South Portland Middle School

How can we use the many things that we do every day to advocate for robust library programs, increased resources, and strong systems and communities of support? You are most likely doing a lot already! Cidney will share tried and true tips for data collection for K-12 librarians.

  • We will also have updates on IMBB policies and the implications for school libraries since Mahmoud v Taylor as well as information about the addition of World Book to the Digital Maine Library.
