The MASL Library Support Staff Award is intended to honor Educational Technicians who have made a significant contribution to their local school library media program and/or have demonstrated commitment to those efforts at the state level. The award includes an engraved plaque for the recipient and a cash donation to the recipient's school library media program, made in the name of the recipient. The Award is given annually and presented at both the recipient's school/district and at an appropriate MASL conference or event.
1. MASL member for at least one year, and
2. Working in any support capacity in the school library media profession in Maine
Procedure for Nomination
Nominations may come from:
Deadline for nominations: February 15
Email completed nomination form and documentation to: firstname.lastname@example.org *Please do not mail* When an application is received, the MASL office will send an email confirming receipt of the application.
Once the deadline to receive nominations has passed all nominations received will be reviewed and a winner selected by MASL's past president. All submitters will be notified of the results.
The submitter of the winning application will then be contacted to discuss arrangements for an on-site presentation of the award which will include school and district officials, staff, faculty and students whenever possible.
The Award winner will also be accorded honors at the next significant MASL event.
Although the award is presented annually and the major emphasis is for contributions made during the previous school year, earlier and continuing activities should be included in the recommendations and will be considered as part of the nomination.
MASL also reserves the right to forgo presenting the Support Staff Award in years when there are no candidates or when the MASL Board determines that no candidate submission meets the requirements of the Support Staff Award.
