Are you the singular and magical unicorn in your school? As school library professionals, we’re often the only one in our building or district. Sometimes it really helps to have a sounding board, someone else who knows school libraries and knows what it’s like to be a school librarian in 2024.
MASL’s mentoring program pairs professionally-certified school librarian mentors with mentees. Some of our mentees are new to the field of school librarianship, but you don’t have to be new to ask for a mentor. Sometimes it helps to have a professional colleague to brainstorm with when you’re out of ideas, whether that’s about collaboration or lesson-planning, behavior management, collection development, policy development, or [fill in the blank].
What we hear from our mentoring pairs is that this is a professional connection that benefits both parties.
Mentors and mentees can obtain up to 5 contact hours by filling out a simple reflection log.
